Certified organic white tea (shiraore) from Japan is so rare that it is almost extinct from the global tea market. Annual production of Japanese white tea is less than one ton by volume and a fraction of that number is certified organic.

Mellifera is proud to offer our customers the very rare experience of certifed organic Shiraore tea from Japan. Our white tea is produced from Japanese organic gokuro which is already regarded as the most labor intensive tea to produce, but adding the element of Shiraore (white stems) makes it almost unheard of. It falls in the category of our stress reducing teas, particularly high in amino acids due to being harvested during a narrow window in the early spring. It is definitely a favorite in the niche organic tea experience.
