Japanese tea growers call this tea, JUN, which means "True Reflection", like mirroring what is inside as two become one by reflection. It is high-grade sencha nagori cultivated in the Yame mountains at 600 meters above sea level, organically grown and meticulously prepared by tea master Irie Toshiro. JUN tea is made from handpicked leaves just below the first-flush of Toshiro-san's award-winning JUKI tea, exhibiting the gentle harmony between sweetness and earthy depth. It is thoughtfully presented in a generous fold of handmade Japanese washi paper, flecked with gold and silver.
Irie Toshiro is a pioneer of organic tea farming in Japan, dedicating over 35 years to cultivating chemical-free green tea in the mountains of Yame. Inspired by his own story of industrial illness and recovery through pure green tea, he established his own farm isolated in the village of Kuroki, ensuring pure, uncontaminated soil and a thriving natural ecosystem.
Working alongside his son, Toshiro-san produces award winning tea that reflects both the vitality of Yame’s fertile climate and his commitment to the Japanese art of cultivating and preparing organic tea. His world-renowned teas embody the four characteristics that define the virtues of tea.
