It is a masterpiece of south-island Japan, as the only Sencha tea in the world to receive a perfect score at Germany’s annual tea competition. Organically grown and auspiciously prepared by Irie Toshiro, production is limited to less than 50 kilograms per year. His blue ribbon sencha kiwami is a rare expression of Japanese balance, purity, and refinement, respective of traditional Japan. Irie Toshiro is a pioneer of organic tea farming in Japan, dedicating over 35 years to cultivating chemical-free green tea in the mountains of Yame. Inspired by his own story of industrial illness and recovery through pure green tea, he established his own farm isolated in the village of the Kuroki, ensuring pure, uncontaminated soil and a thriving natural ecosystem.

Working alongside his son, Toshiro-san produces award winning tea that reflects both the vitality of Yame’s fertile climate and his commitment to the Japanese art of cultivating and preparing organic tea. His world-renowned teas embody the four characteristics that define the virtues of tea.
