Japanese tea growers call this matcha, HIROMI, which means "Generous Beauty", alluding to the inner beauty that nourishes hospitality, like sharing a cup of tea. HIROMI ceremonial grade matcha is organically cultivated in the remote region of Satsuma, Japan, far from industrialization. Produced by tea master Yamaguchi Hitoshi, this matcha is crafted exclusively from the Kanayamidori cultivar, a rare and expressive variety of tea known for its unique balance of umami, sweetness, and gentle astringency. The tea leaves are naturally high in amino acids, being shade grown, and hand-harvested at the end of spring. They are carefully stone-milled to a fine, silky powder expressing notes of wild clover, raw almond, and honeydew.

Founded in 1977, Yamaguchi-En is a family-operated tea farm in the quiet Satsuma region of Kagoshima, Japan. Well-established tea trees are nested in the mountains far from all industrialization, allowing for the pristine cultivation and processing of organic tea and matcha.
