The speckling on the inside represents garden votives let out to sea in honor of his vernal beauty reflected in the first fruits. A splash of red lies in the center, symbolizing the tear of Venus that fell for love’s labor lost and caused the red anemone flower to spring up in its place. The overall design honors of the cycle of birth, life, death, and rebirth, celebrating the four seasons and a bountiful harvest.
