Traditionally crafted rustic Kurokinsai (black-gold decorated) teapot, handmade by Maekawa Junzo, fourth-generation Tokoname potter working from the Kenzan Kiln. This teapot incorporates a clay sasame (fine mesh) filter ensures a smooth pour, making it ideal for all types of loose-leaf tea, and the rustic surface is a tactile reminder of its origin in Japan’s oldest pottery region dating back to the 12th century. Tokoname is known for its brick-red iron-rich clay called shudei, and teapots from this region are prized for enhancing the sweetness of green tea.
