Rare single-variety extra virgin olive oil cold-pressed from ancient Biancolilla Centinara olives organically grown on La Furtuna Estate in Sicily
Bona Furtuna presents a single-variety extra virgin olive oil using only the rare Biancolilla Centinara, grown and cold-pressed on its own farm in Corleone, Sicily. It has a medium body and green fruitiness, offering hints of wild herbs and dried flowers, almond and artichoke. Enjoy the taste of ancient Sicily with fresh burrata or mozzarella, salmon belly crudo or a garden salad.
While the Biancolilla olive is common throughout Sicily, two wild trees over 1,500 years were discovered with distinct characteristics all their own and named Biancolilla Centinara, meaning “ancient white lilac”. The variety was cultivated back from the threat of extinction at La Furtuna Estate, where a grove of over 5,000 trees now thrive. The olives are harvested from September through November, then cold-pressed and bottled within 2 to 24 hours, producing an oil found only on this farm.
